March Madness: The Game is ON!!!!! And the Game is Marketing! Featured

I absolutely love March Madness. Though I don’t watch much basketball the rest of the year, the excitement of the tournament just draws you in. Plus I fill out a bracket or 2 so now I have some skin the game.

We already know the madness will not be limited to the basketball court. That is because, according to new research, 38 percent of workers will yield to March Madness and watch the college basketball games at work, either by streaming them on their computer or on a television in the break room at the office.

That’s a huge amount of people watching the game, following updates on Twitter, and posting bracket results on Facebook. As a business owner this may mean 2 things: lost productivity and marketing opportunity.

I’ll let you deal with the productivity issue on your own, but if your audience is spending more time on Facebook and Twitter, maybe you should too! This seems like a prime to create some context that this audience will engage with.

So seize the day. Grab you tablet or smart phone and get Tweeting. There’s an opportunity out there waiting for you to find.

Good Luck!
